Making Time for Yourself on Busy Days
Find one small moment of comfort in an ordinary day, even when your calendar already feels full.
Look for a moment you already have
Think about the minute after you close your laptop, the first sip of your morning drink, or the stretch between dinner and doing the dishes. Is there a moment when you can slow down a little?
Start with a time that feels easy to repeat. Five minutes you can enjoy today may fit better than a full evening you have to rearrange.
Make that moment feel like yours
Do something you’d look forward to. Put on an album while you get ready for bed, take your coffee outside, or read a few pages with your phone on silent. The right choice is the one you want to return to.
Let it change with your day
Some days you may want quiet. Other days you might want to call a friend or take a walk with your partner. If a ritual starts to feel like another task, make it shorter, move it, or give yourself the evening off.
One thing to try
Pick one moment tomorrow that you could make a little more comfortable. What’s the smallest change you’d enjoy?
